From Portsmouth to the land of the midnight sun. 

My name is Carla, nice to meet you! I am a freelance Copyeditor and Proofreader with a focus on the tourism and hospitality sector. Originally from Portsmouth, I came to Finland in 2016 and now live in Salla, Lapland where I also work as a snowmobile guide. 

My professional background is primarily in customer service and tourism, racking up 10 years of experience with the latter half in tourism specifically. In the last 5 years, I have been fortunate enough to work all over Europe, learning and gaining valuable experience in the sector I love. I currently work as a snowmobile guide in Salla, leading and teaching groups about the nature and culture of Lapland. I am also studying tourism and business management at university on the side. 

My passion for the English language has followed me though school and college to this day. Studying History, Geography, Philosophy, and Politics enabled me to explore the English language through complex and demanding concepts. I have a strong passion for passing on my knowledge of the subjects I love, and this lead me to teach English in Poland to both adults and children alike, primarily through intensive English language courses. Any opportunity to teach English in Finland is also extremely welcome. 

I discovered I could combine all my passions together when a local tourism business approached me to help proofread their website. It was then that it dawned on me that I could take pride in providing my language services to the community and industry I am proud to live and work in. I am constantly striving to become the best I can be, I currently have certificates in proofreading, copyediting and copywriting.
